Title: LS-WXL - after replacing failed drive, "Rebuild RAID Array" greyed out
Post by: travisncs on December 11, 2018, 10:52:33 AM
Good Morning,

I'm new to the forums and excited to be asking my first question.

I was alerted to a failed drive via email alerts, so i got a comparable drive and replaced it.  It was Drive 2.

When i go to the web management portal, Settings > Storage > Array 1... It has Disk 1 and Disk 2, both disks have Disk Mode of Array 1.  And it has the Rebuild RAID Array greyed out.

Thoughts on a step that I may have missed?

Array1 is the name of the RAID, not the RAID mode.
Post a screenshot of the System -> Storage section of the settings page.

Thanks for the reply davo.

Here's a link to a screen shot.  (My apologies for being unfamiliar with the form posting procedures.)

According to that screenshot, both drives are already members of the array. It's likely that it's already rebuilding.

It does appear that way, but in the step prior, it lists the Array 1 with an Error status:

The devices has the error LED amber and blinking: long, short, short.

Are you able to access the shared folders? With that status it's possible that the array cannot be rebuilt.

I do have access to the file share.

Any thoughts how it could have gotten in that status?  I've replaced a drive int he past without issue.

Going to go ahead and move the data off the device, delete/recreate the array.  Figure i'm past the point of an easy recovery.  Thanks all for the feedback.
