Title: Recovering Disk Space
Post by: Custheyder on July 07, 2009, 05:23:41 AM

First off I have a TS-HTGL/R5 Terrastation Pro running Firmware: 1.26.

I'm down to my last 7% and I've deleted Gig's worth of backup folders to try and claw some back. It's not making a dent. I have the trashbox disabled. I've deleted the trashbox folders. I've used the browser management options to delete all trashbox items.

Just to add insult to injury I can't delete any more folders. It goes through the preparing to delete and then fails.

I'm now totally out of ideas on how to recover the space.

I'm still getting the "RAID Array 1 has low disk space" warning.

Help me please!

You deleted the TrashBox folders? So, they appeared even though they were disabled?

...This is for all the folders?

Try enabling them and see if they come back and see if there is any data in it.

Web GUI> Maintenance> Initialization> Restore to Defaults (this does not touch data, but will reset all settings). See if the Trashboxes come back or are re-enabled.

You could try updating the Firmware to try and retrieve the trashbox.

The reason I bring these solutions up is because maybe there is a corruption with the "trashbox" (since it did appear even though disabled, and you shouldn't delete them).

But... It could be that the unit is actually getting full and if your trying to gain more space, you can attach USB drives to the TS and transfer data to them or just use them as new folders.

Try deleting some unused shared folders through the Terastations web interface.

Hi Kevin

They were initially enabled, which is why they were there. I tried emtying and deleting the trash folders and eventually disabled them. That's why were there in the first place.

...the unit isn't that full, just full of backups that needed culling. I've re-enabled the trashboxes. Just have to wait and see if anything happens.

Just making sure! I have seen sometimes people will actually get the trashbox deleted and that can cause some issues.

After enabling them, you want to make sure that no deleted data is stuck in there.
