Title: Problems with LinkStation Quad when turning it on
Post by: bouklyloo on July 04, 2009, 10:25:09 PM

Hi,

I recently bought a Linkstation Quad and I have had a few problems when turning it on. My firmware is up to date and I am running Mac OS X leopard.

1) When I turn on the machine sometimes the LED light starts to blink red, I have read a bit about it and I learnt that it was a RAID error. How do I fix it (my firmware IS up do date)??

2) Sometimes when I turn on the machine, it starts to work properly but after around 6-7 hours some of the hard drives start to fail (some disk LEDs turn red). How do I fix this?

Thanks

  1. I would open your internet browser and enter the IP of your NAS.
  2. Log into the web admin.
  3. Go to Disk Management->RAID Setup
  4. Click on the Gold Hammer and Screwdriver icon that should be on the same line as RAID Array 1
  5. Are there any disks unchecked?
  6. Post back results

I can't see any thing that says that are disk are unchecked but I'm not fully sure about what you mean so here is what I get on the page: http://img7.imageshack.us/i/raidsetup.tif/  I took a print screen so just copy the link and open it.

You can try and delete/rebuild the raid array but if it is still giving you problems after that I would exchange it with the retailer or set up an RMA through us.

How I delete/rebuild the RAID array?

I would just change the raid mode.  If you want it back to raid 0 you can change it back.

...Again, same thread?

PCPiranha is right, if you cannot do a force update then the next step is to try to rebuild the array.

Web GUI> Disk Managment> RAID Setup> Click RAID Array 1> Delete RAID array. Then go back and Create/Build RAID array to which ever mode you want.

And again PLEASE stop recreating the same thread, it clogs the message boards! If you continue to have issues, come back to this thread!

HI, I noticed that if you connect the power (or switch on the main plug, whatever) and you press the power button right afterwards it does not start properly. At least it does not very often. If you wait a minute after switching on/connecting power there are usually no boot problems. Hope it helps!
