Title: Alternative torrent client
Post by: LsK_Lele on July 04, 2009, 12:28:03 PM

Hi,

I just bought a LS-CH1.5 linkstation live NAS, all seems to work correctly, but I have a problem: I am a member of a close tracker. This tracker does not allow bittorrent, due to some errors in log/statistic access... so I would appreciate to use a different client, this is the accepted clients:

• Utorrent ver > 1.7.5.0
• Azureus ver > 3.0.4.0
• Ktorrent ver > 2.0
• Transmission ver > 0.80
• Deluge ver > 0.4
• rtorrent
• Bittornado ver > 0.3.17
• BitLet (...)
• Halite ver > 0.3.0
• qBittorrent
• btpd ver > 0.13
• aria2

Is there any way to install one of them in my linkstation, without loosing my warranty?

Thank you,

Lele

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your reply. Last question: I can see on this old post (http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&message.id=1656&query.id=73756#M1656) that a password-protection was going to be included on a firmware release. Is there any news about that? I think this is a very important issue, because anyone can access my torrent downloads at this moment...

Thank you,

Lele

Do you whink this feature will be included in the next firmware?

Thank you,

1.07 is the latest for this unit

Unfortunately we do not get much info on upcoming FW versions because they are all beta test in Japan and then released to North America. Though I can say that this has been a request for a while and is known (as pointed out on the thread you referenced). Im sure they are working on it, I just cannot say which release it will come in until we get closer to the next release.

But theres a good chance someone has heard more then me about this.
