Title: Rebuilding Array1 on LS-WXL/R1
Post by: HappyMark on October 26, 2018, 06:45:17 AM
I am new to this and have tried to search for a solution without much luck.
My LS is reporting an error for Disk1. I have purchased a Seagate 2TB Ironwolf HDD and followed the instruction by removing the defective drive and inserting the new one.
NAS Navigator 2 under System>Storage. Shows the array with 2 drives. Drive 1 shows error. The problem is it is listed with exactly the same unit name as Drive 2 which did not fail. The Raid Array (Array 1) box again shows two drives with the same model name. Clicking rebuild array warns that the disc used to rebuild the array will be deleted. As the model name is the same for both am I going to lose all my data?
Should I have formatted the new HDD? That option is greyed out under the Disks box, and of course it shows as the same model number as the good disk. Help please.

No, the data is not erased, it just formats the new disks but make sure you have a backup just in case.

Thanks for the reassurance Davo.
After the back-up, the unit proceeded to rebuild the array like a dream.

Thank you again.
