Title: LinkStation LS441D 16TB Time Machine problem
Post by: mukukikumu on September 04, 2018, 02:38:02 PM
MacBookPro Late 2013 macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.
LinkStation LS441D 16TB

The Time Machine does not work with that disk.
When trying to add the disk to MBP's Time Machine, I get the error "time machine can't connect to the backup disk osstatus error 2". Using Terminal command "sudo tmutil setdestination smb://admin:password@LS441.local/TimeMachine" I get the error "Disk does not support Time Machine backups. (error 45)".

LinkStation is out of the box, Time Machine enabled from the panel.

Any solutions?

On the shared folder on the LinkStation make sure the "Backup" option is checked, otherwise it won't expose that folder for Time Machine.

Also, in the advanced file sharing menu, look at the SMB properties and make sure SMB 2 is enabled.
