Title: Drives From LS-WXL249 inserted into LS200DE
Post by: jaredacct on August 21, 2018, 05:37:54 AM
Hello - I had a fan failure in my LS-WXL249 and I decided to upgrade to a newer linkstation model.  I booted up the empty LS200DE and was going to update the firmware - but it looks like it needs drives to do that.  So I tried using the drives from the old unit (2x 1TB - RAID1).  When I power on the LS200DE the activity light is blinking but I can't find the device with the NAS Navigator or the LS Updater software.  Any ideas?

I assume you don't need the data that was on the disks?

I'd actually prefer to keep it.  Looking at the fans, maybe I'll just try the new fan in the old chasis.  Or just put a fan on the drives while I transfer the data...

FYI: Putting the disks from the LS-WXL into the LS220DE will format them.
