Title: Preferred Raid Mode for Streaming Audio/Video Files?
Post by: mh1983 on August 15, 2018, 01:48:55 PM
Hi,

All I use my NAS for is a DLNA server from which to stream files. I have a Raid 5 array, because I see that mentioned the most here, but will be upgrading the storage soon and rebuilding the array. What's the preferred array for this type of use?

Doesn't really make much difference which RAID you're using if you're using DLNA.

Thanks, davo, but different RAID levels would influence the available space and resiliency, wouldn't they?

Would I be good with Raid 1 + a good USB drive for backups?
