Title: SMB on TeraStation ES - TS-XE8.0TL/R5
Post by: GNWTech on May 01, 2018, 01:39:31 PM
Looking for any help, I'm trying to confirm the version of SMB that a TeraStation ES - TS-XE8.0TL/R5 can provide.

I assume only SMB1?

I am checking because I seem to be having a problem connecting to shares on this NAS, from Win 10 devices, and get this specific error:

"You can't connect to the file share because it's not secure. This share requires the obsolete SMB1 protocol, which is unsafe and could expose your system to attack. Your system requires SMB2 or higher. For more issue on resolving this issue, see: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=852747 [OK]"

I have the device updated to latest firmware, v1.72

Checking the settings for the device, in Network > Network Services, I seem to only be able to toggle SMB on or off, for each Ethernet port.

In Shared Folders > Folder Setup, I can check ' Shared Folder Support', and choose Windows, but still no mention of SMB version.

I am not interested in working around the issue. If its not capable of SMB2 or 3, I will just replace with a new device then.

Thanks!

It only has SMB1. There are ways to enable SMB2 but nothing official.

Thank you, davo.

Any details on that, or point me to a resource where I can possibly enable SMB2?
