Title: Adding Second Drive to LS220DE
Post by: Pettigrew95 on April 27, 2018, 11:58:14 PM
Hey guys, I have a LS220DE and have 1 drive in it as of now. I cannot figure out how to add a second drive as JBOD. I have tried hitting function and plugging it in. Shutting the NAS down and inserting it and turning it back on. No matter what I've tried nothing seems to work and NAS Navigator just says my LS220DE is in emergency mode until I power it off and take out the second drive. Does anyone know the correct process to just add a second drive? The manual is no help. Thanks in advance.

1. put the second drive in
2. flash the firmware to repair the em mode

How would you go about flashing the firmware, if you cannot access the unit (beyond saying its in Emergency Mode)

"saying its in Emergency Mode"

this is enough for the lsupdater.exe

This is not so, I have a LS220DE, put two new Seagate 4TB drives and followed the Buffalo recommend reset process, boots, then steady red light.  Navigator (3.02) shows drive in Emergency Mode.  Using lsupdater.exe in diag mode, it fails!!  "Partition not found. Aborting firmware update.

this typically happens if the drives aren't blank when you start.
