Title: HD-GD2.0U3 spins up, then stops. Never recognized anymore. OSX
Post by: HD-GD2.0U3 on March 31, 2018, 04:44:45 PM
My HD-GD2.0U3  spins up, then stops.  Never recognized anymore.     For awhile I thought the behavior was due to it being plugged into a Mac instead of a Windows machine.   But as I increasingly began to believe it's a hard drive problem, the hard drive stopped being recognized entirely.     Worst Yet is that it's apparently out of warranty.   Is there a RECALL on this DRIVE???     IS THERE A JUMPER I CAN SET TO FORCE THE DRIVE TO CONTINUE SPINNING ????    HELP!    Being out of warranty doesn't mean all is well..   I have much of my data on this drive.   This drive is my backup!!!    seek@telus.net

this is not a nas
its a usb case

on windows start crystal disk info

1. if your drive will is not visible
only proffessional data recovery services can help you

2. if your drive is visible an marked as bad
you can try to make a clone and the try to use recovery software with this clone

If it's your backup then by definition your data must be somewhere else too and can be backed up to another external drive. If not then it's not a backup, it's your primary storage.
