Title: Total factory reset?
Post by: gijoe2cool on February 01, 2018, 04:05:34 PM
Ok, I'm not sure if this is on here anywhere, and I did search around a little, but here is the story, followed by the question. My aunt gave me a buffalo CS-WX-1.0 because she upgraded, and also had forgotten her device info, and could no longer log in anyway. So, I have tried factory resetting it, but it doesn't appear to do anything at all.

So my question, is there some way, without having access to the in device menu, to completely factory reset the device and start totally from scratch??

And before it's mentioned, I have, to the best of my knowledge, correctly done the "turn device off, hold function button, turn on, wait for light to blink, then press function button again.

But when I go to log in, it still asks for device password, and I don't have it, and my aunt doesn't remember it. So I am guessing the "factory reset" isn't working correctly, or I'm not doing it right... Any help would be nice...

replace "wait for light to blink" with "wait 10s"

You need either the LSRecovery software to reset the password or blank / format the disks externally and reinstall the unit using the boot image.
