Title: Can't access my files
Post by: robert587 on June 04, 2017, 04:52:35 AM
I own an hd-lcu3 purchaes more than a month ago. Immediately backed up my files using Backup Utility.

Yesterday, my laptop broke and went to have it fixed. Internal hdd had to be replaced, so now I'm using a different one. Upon trying to get my files back from the external hard drive, it said that I didn't have permission to access the folders. I changed the owner of the folder and can now view my files. But the problem is, I can't copy it and paste to my laptop. It says that I don't have permission. I need help please!

What OS is running on the computer? If Windows, it's not enough to take ownership of the folders. You also have to add your new account (since this is likely a fresh install you have a new user account) to the security tab and give your new account full control of all folders and subfolders.

Nevermind. I got it to work. Apparently, I changed ownership to the permission tab only, and not the auditing and effective access.
