Title: replacing 1st drive in LS-WX6
Post by: drsyker on March 25, 2017, 09:53:43 AM
My LS-WX6 has died.  I've pulled the two drives out and found, by sticking them into an external hard drive mount, that the first (far left) drive appears to be dead.  The computer has no response when this drive is mounted.  On the other hand, mounting the second immediately prompts for me to format the drive.  I am assuming/hoping this means the drive is fine, just that it can't be read because the computer doesn't have the ability to parse whatever RAID config/format Buffalo is using.

So two questions:
1) Would the dead first bay drive explain why the Linkstation is no longer bootable? (i.e. is the system software only present on the first drive?)
2) How do I get the system up and running again so as to recover the data still present on the 2nd drive?
