Title: Get my Airstation ethernet speed up
Post by: CAltwegg on February 28, 2017, 11:12:49 AM
Comcast recently upgraded our internet account to 200 Mbps.

When I plug a computer directly into the modem using an Ethernet cable, I get speeds in that range and higher.

When I run through the Airstation, again using Ethernet (not WiFi), my speeds drop into the range of 135 Mbps.

I replaced all the network distribution devices to new Gigabit switches.

Is there something I can do to get the Ethernet network up?

My firmware is Firmware Version:   DD-WRT v24SP2-MULTI (09/27/12) std - build 20025

Thank you, Chris Altwegg

Older DDWRT versions / devices (like yours) had a limit of 150 Mbps, there may be a community build available but I'm not sure if this limit would still apply for this older device.

Thanks for the reply, but the specifications from Buffalo and other Google hits all state it is supposed to be capable of 1 Gb ethernet. I'm just wanting the 200 Mb that Comcast is sending me.

Thanks,
Chris

Change to the Buffalo user friendly firmware then.

it comes down to the driver used by DD-WRT. The open source driver provided by the chip manufacturer is not as fast as the closed source driver used in the friendly firmware.
