Hello,
I need help desperately.
I have a Buffalo LinkStation HD-H250LAN (an oldie, I know).
It is connected to my VirginMedia router via Ethernet Cable and my laptop connects to the router wirelessly.
So far, it has always done the job, but yesterday, by accident, I enabled DHCP in the NAS's setup panel and now it has become inaccessible.
Before, the router's IP address was 192.168.0.5 and the default Gateway wa 192.168.0.1.
When trying to access the setup panel in my browser I got this:
I have downloaded NAS Navigator2 and it appears my NAS's IP address has now changed to 192.168.11.150 and the default gateway to 0.0.0.0.
When I enter the new IP address in my browser I get exactly the same as I got in the previous IP address (see screenshot).
Furthermore, In Nas Navigator2, a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark appears in the NAS picture in the top left, and if it is any help, the Mac address for the NAS is now 00:0D:0B:9E:74:9C.
Can anyone PLEASE help me to get my NAS up and running again, as this is a living hell to me?
Thank you very much in advance.
The MAC address doesn't change. If you're router has the ability to do IP Address reservations go ahead and input that and see if the Buffalo will take the IP u pick.
Thank you for your reply.
I did reserve an IP address in the router, but the NAS did not seem to take it.
I also reset the NAS to facto factory settings, but unfortunately I have no idea what the default IP address is.
Thank you anyway.
For whatever reason its not getting a DHCP IP from the router, connect the Linkstation to the PC with a network cable, set the LAN card of the PC to use the following static IP 192.168.11.151.
You should then be able to log onto the LS (192.168.11.150) and set whatever static IP you want that matches your routers range.
Thank you.
The only tricky bit for me looks to set the IP address of the LAN card.
Not really sure how to do that. (Sorry to be a pain in the proverbial. :( ).
Also, although I work wireless, will that not lead to complications afterwards?
Thank you.
This is just so you can get around the problem, you will connect it back to the router once done.
To set the IP address, go to the Control Panel in Windows - Network and Sharing Centre - Change adaptor settings - Right click the local area connection - Properties - Internet Protocol V4 - Use the following IP address:
IP: 192.168.11.151
Subnnet: 255.255.255.0
Leave the other settings blank - OK - OK.
See if you can then access the Buffalo on 192.168.11.150
Problem solved.
Me happy.
Thank you ever so much.
I owe you a drink (or two).
Thanks again.
Glad to help, I drink Guinness btw :-)
