Title: DriveStation physically stuck in USB mode!
Post by: rockman on June 19, 2009, 03:18:25 PM
I just hooked up my new DriveStation (HD-CE1.5TLU2). When I first powered it on, it booted up in LAN mode (the green light), so I held the front button to switch it to USB mode (orange) for the installation. After that was complete, I attempted to follow the instructions for installing it as a LAN device - except that when I pressed the button again to switch it back to LAN mode... nothing happened!! Now, the drive shows an orange light regardless of how long I hold in the button before letting go, so I know that's not the problem. Interestingly, I attempted to do the LAN installation anyway, thinking it might just be a defective LED. I eventually got through the setup, and can see the drive through the web utility, although the HD Mode indicator on the Home page only displays 'USB,' obviously. Am I missing something, or did I receive a defective unit?

Did you format the device at all?  If not it is possible you might need to reflash the firmware of the device.
