Title: Root password on the HS-DH500GL Linkstation
Post by: jgoldberg on December 02, 2016, 09:09:42 AM
Does anybody know what this is by default? I need to use it to log into the Linkstation via Putty in order to edit the smb.conf file by adding a line to it that says "strict allocate = yes." I need to do this because the device has a sparse file system, a condition that I need to deal with in order to allow for a full image backup to it. I would appreciate any suggestions anybody would have, either providing a root password or offering another way to change that file.

I have the same need. Did you ever find help?

I found the root passwords here. but it voids the warranty.
I need to accomplish this also on my system but have not a clue how. Can anyone help?
