I have a TS5400 that I need to connect somehow to two completely separate LANs (with different WAN connections) within the same facility. Can the dual NICs be used in this configuration? Would XOR port trunking work?

If not, what would be the best method for this?

I did receive a response from Buffalo support confirming that XOR trunking was not the solution.
The suggestion was :

You will need to assign an IP-address from the range of the first local network to the LAN1 port.
Assign an IP-address from the range of your second LAN to the LAN2 port.

I did try this and the IP address for LAN2 was not accepted. A page popped up with a link to the newly assigned IP address
for LAN2, I click the link, and of course "page not found" because I'm connected to the TS5400 from LAN1 to do the
configuration in the first place. When I bring up the TS5400 console again I can see the LAN2 IP was not accepted.

You cannot assign a Gateway address on LAN2, however in my case it is the same on both networks – 192.168.1.1
So I thought this might work, but I cannot figure out how to implement.

Any idea?

I just had an idea. After I enter/apply the new IP address to LAN2 I get the popup with that address to click on. I suppose this is to confirm that it is a valid IP address for LAN2.

Maybe I need to bring up a system that is actually on LAN2 and try to connect to that new address, instead of clicking on the link? I didn't try that, but will do this as soon as I can arrange time.

I have always suspected there is no way to connect the TS5400 to 2 completely different LANs because I have not seen this in any documentation, yet neither have I seen anything that says it can't be done.

Has no one ever run into this question or tried it?
