Title: How to remove Read Only on 2TB HD-HXU3 Drive?
Post by: donwiss on October 26, 2016, 08:13:33 PM
Someone gave me a 2TB HD-HXU3 drive that he could never get to work. I looked at it and found that the entire drive was set to read only. The drive is FAT32 and 321MB of the drive is used up by manuals. That only leaves 327MB of free space. I'd like to format as NTFS. Any manuals I can get online. And I certainly don't want encryption.

First I need to remove the read only. I went to Diskpart and selected the drive. I typed ATTRIBUTES DISK CLEAR READONLY. I got back the response that "Disk attributes cleared successfully." But when I type ATTRIBUTES DISK it still lists "Current Read-only State : Yes"

There is also a second volume with 1.8TB. But also a FAT32. I want to merge and have one NTFS drive.

How do I remove this read-only so I can format the drive?
