I've installed a DriveStation FlexNet (model HD-CE1.0TLU2) as a NAS drive. Setup went well, Shares and Mapings are working great.
...however...
If I attempt to update a file on the drive it throws "an unexpected network error occured." Even using something as simple as Notepad to update a text file will crash.
It also throws an error when copying ZIP files to the drive: "The file 'Backup.ZIP' contains more than one data stream, but the destination volume does not support this feature. Some data will not be preserved as a result."
These seem to be pretty fundamental product limitations. Or is it just me?
I realize that these problems probably exist because of the NTFS -vs- Fat32 format issues, but I really would like to avoid using this in USB mode, I did pay extra for the NAS feature after all.
I purchased this drive to meet 2 goals:
1. Provide additional storage space where I can setup functional test environments for my customer's data (failed because it won't allow files to be updated).
2. Proivide an easy way to backup data from other PC's (suspect because it might not be saving ZIP files completely).
Does Buffalo make a drive that can meet my needs?
Any advice would be helpful.
