Title: Linkstation 210 - Cannot Reflash Firmware
Post by: oldankinmiller on August 11, 2016, 12:20:05 PM
Hi,

I have a Linkstation 210 that is showing 7 red flashes of the function LED (corrupted firmware).   I am trying to reflash it, but none of the methods I have tried work.  My warranty is up, so I cannot send it in.

I have tried to flash Firmware 1.63, but the flashing software cannot detect the device. NAS Navigator no longer detects the device, so I can't use the GUI factory reset.  I have tried a factory reset using the function button, but it does not seem to solve any of the problems and I cannot even tell if the factory reset is successful (it does not take 5 - 10 minutes as it should, only about a minute until it resumes its error flashing of the red LED).

When I used the device, I set a static IP.  I can no longer log into it from this IP.  My router no longer recognizes the device at all, so I can't see if there is a new IP address from my router.  I am not sure of the best method to check the current IP address.  If factory reset worked, the IP should be default, but I haven't been able to verify this.

Any suggestions on how to approach this and troubleshoot my issue?  I am starting to suspect that the corrupted firmware is preventing the device from working on a networking level.  But I want to ensure I have exhausted all my options before resorting to that.  Thanks!

You need the TFTP image for the device. Basically the OS is corrupt.
