Title: TFTP recovery for a Buffalo LS-Q4.0TL/R5
Post by: Fla_Panther on July 19, 2016, 06:11:14 PM
Hi all.

I bought a used LS-Q4.0TL/R5 on eBay but it's giving the 6 red LEDs. I tried using the TFTP recovery procedure with the appropriate file form this location (https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_oFnRRMAwk0SkYtdGpSdTNKTk0&usp=sharing#list) but nothing happened.  My laptop showed it was listening on 192.168.11.1 and I also tried it on 169.254.11.1 but neither time did the TS attempt to call out to the TFTP server.

I let the eBay seller know and he refunded the purchase completely without asking me to ship it back, so now that I've gotten it for free I'm a little more willing to spend time to see if I can get it working.  Has anyone come across a situation where the NAS wasn't attempting to reach out to the TFTP server before?  Was it possible to recover it? If so, how?

Thanks in advance.

Then you either are not using the correct file or you have security software blocking the TFTP application from receiving the files. PM me for the correct up to date files if you want.

I did disable AV and FW. It looks like I missed one of the settings. I've redone it and now I am able to see the NAS in NAS Navigator, in Emergency Mode.  Interestingly, it says it's an LS-QL-EM5E5 or LS-QL/R5 which doesn't match the label on the back of the unit. Also that doesn't match any of the files at the link I posted above.  Do you have one for the LS-QL/R5 or is the file for the LS-QTL supposed to work?  It does show blocks transferred for both files but it's still coming up in EM.

Also, in the instructions it says to check FAQ page 2 once the firmware update takes.  I checked that page (and converted the post back into HTML) and the link for nasnavi-243wr.zip is broken.  Should I be using that or should I reconnect the NAS to my LAN now and try to download new firmware for it?  I guess I can try that in the mean time and see what happens.
