Title: Buffalo BRHC External HD/Blu-Ray Writer
Post by: hilleyja on June 14, 2009, 09:14:59 AM

I purchased this drive several months ago and installed it; have not done anything with it since.

Problem:  I can see the drive in MS Explore.  I can see the Blu-Ray title.  I can even navigate the directory structure.  What I can't do is watch a Blu-Ray movie.  Is this because I need a third party application?

NOTE:  I tried to install a firmware upgrade and the install software said it could not detect the drive???

What Operating System is it?

Depending on the OS, you need to make sure that you have UDF drivers installed on your comp. XP does not come with it.

Keep in mind as well that you will need an HDCP compliantgraphics card in order to play media content for HD and Blu-Ray discs.

... Oh and, does it play normal DVD's?

and are the blu-ray discs professionally mastered or home made?

Yes, Yes, and Yes

Operating System:  MS Windows Vista Ultimate

Graphics Card:       Nvidia GeForce 8800 GS

Intel Dual-Core 6400 with 2GByte of memory.

Since my last post I re-installed the Nero 8 suite.  It recognises the Blu-ray title in my drive but still will not play it.
