   When I try to access the web configuration utility, the login page is in japanese and won't accept my password. I try to convert my password to japanese, still no access. I reset linkstation and use default password, still no access. I translate the word "password" to japanese and paste to login page, still no access. I download firmware update and try to force an update, but the update program asks for a password and nothing woks. Kind of tried everything, but still not working. Unit is a HS-DH750GL.

In order to reset the unit back to defaults when the unit is powered on hold the reset button for about 10-15 sec.  It might take a few times.  Also when you set the passsword there is a little box that can be checked or uncheck.  If the box was check it will not reset the password back to defaults.  Also try to boot the unit into EM mode and see if you can access it that way.  The EM mode boot procedure is on the FAQ's in this Storage forums.

   Tried the unit on 10-15 sec reset several times. Same thing, no access. Tried to boot into EM mode several times, and although i heard the beeps, no change. One thing i might mention, the first time i reset using the power on reset, the ip adress went from a static address to an dhcp assigned address which allowed me to at least see the japanese log in page without changing the address of my machine.

   

Just checking:

 

1. If it is DHCP-assigned IP address, did you change your computer's IP address to be in the same range as the Bufalo unit?

 

2. Once you see the Japanese login page, the first empty bar, typed in "admin", second empty bar, type in "password".

    On the left side, click on the second line. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the main page. On the 2nd last line, click on the scroll-down box and choose English then click Apply.

 

 

 

 

 

   Done this. When i try to log in using "admin" and "password", but it just returns to the log in page.

When did you purchase the unit and what happened to make this happen?  Did you have any errors or any power outages recently?  When did the password stop working to your knowledge?
