Title: Can't Access DLNA files from External Network
Post by: programone on April 23, 2016, 01:31:04 AM
I was using an old Linkstation pro v2 for the last 6 years and finally had to upgrade it to a Linkstation 410d. I swapped out everything perfectly with the 410d having the same setup and IP numbers within the network. Everything works fine but I can not play any media files from outside the network but can view them and browse my DLNA library.  I've searched all over and can't find any resources on this. In the old Pro v2, I was able to add my dns-address to the twonky setup (ip:9050) but the new version of twonky 7.1.1 doesn't have the same network options and there doesn't appear to be a way to have twonky pickup the dns-address. What did I overlook in the new firmware? I've tried activating the webshare and add the dns there but still doesn't work. UGH!!!! Please help.

FYI:
Firmware: 1.81-0.03
Twonky: Version: TwonkyServer Premium 7.1.1-dsd
410d is DHCP enabled and IP is managed via the router. I have an external port open to 9050 and can browse to the Twonky server.
Computer/network intelligence: 8 out of 10

You are trying to serve media through NAT (probably over the internet?)

I'm reading that Twonky requires 1030,1900,9000,9020-9021,9080 to be forwarded.

So, I'd get some port-forwarding going. Never done this myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

i have already accounted for the port forwarding... for this device its on 9050.the issue is the device defaults to the internal ip number and not the external. And tbis was adjustable through the twonky settings. with the new firmware it doesn't appear to be as simple and looking for help to where its located. i dont want to dmz the nas and it should work fine witht the proper settings.
