Title: LS-WVL: Can't delete file with foreign characters
Post by: raylam on April 20, 2016, 03:07:12 PM
Connecting with a Mac to an LS-WVL (1.71)

Having this odd issue where I see two files 05-12 Noir - Lumière.flac and 05-12 Noir - Lumière.mp3 on the NAS.

I suspect it is the è character that is causing the problems.

I've tried:

Restarting the NAS.
Restarting my Mac.
Connecting with AFP and SMB.
Moving the files into a new folder and trying to delete the new folder.
Relaunching Finder.
Deleting the files from Terminal with rm.
Deleting via FTP (returns "no found" error.)

When I try to delete the folder, the system tells me the item is in use.

When I try to delete the file I get "Operation cannot be completed because one or more required item can't be found Error code -43"

If I try to play the file, it tells the file can't be found.

But I see them in the folder of course.

We sold a lot of these in the EU, I'd be surprised if standard accents caused this issue.

That said, I'm not in the EU, so maybe I'm wrong.

Try connecting with a PC and see what happens? Theoretically, you could also copy all the other files to a different share and delete the share, but the PC thing seems easier.

Some mac users are affronted when I suggest trying a PC, it's just where I understand all the variables is all.
