Title: TeraStation migration
Post by: pesta on June 12, 2009, 12:09:50 AM

We have a TeraStation with few USB external hard drives attached to it, and I would like to consolidate them all into 2TB hard drives.

These folks are running Windows xp OS's and backing up their files into the terastation. Is there a way I can ftp all of the files into new  windows based/NTFS hard drives?

I tried using veritas(backup.exec) and it failed.

Please help if you any clue on how to backup terastation into any format....

Million thanks

The main reason Backup.Exec doesn't work is because it requires a remote client to be installed on the target. Since our NAS drives are formatted to the XFS format and not NTFS, Windows executable files tend to not work

You can do a manual backup by attaching USB drives to the Windows PCs and doing a Windows Cut And Paste.
