Title: FTP access with restrictions in a linkstation
Post by: kraquem on June 09, 2009, 08:57:35 AM

Hello, i have a Linkstation Pro Duo connected to a LAN, all PCs can access to the same folder without password or username, but also i need to connect to the server trough FTP from a WAN with a username and password, in other words: for LAN it shouldn't ask for username or password, but from WAN has to ask username and password. Is this possible?

I've already set FTP to the server and to the shared folder, i can access from the WAN without a problem, but when i try to access form the LAN, it asks me username and password.
I have 2 groups created: "LAN group" for the local network, which shouldn't ask password nor username; and "WAN group" which access through FTP and should ask username and password.

Thank you all for your valious help. Regards.

The only way to set FTP restrictions is to use the Access Restrictions option in the web interface. However there is no way to seperate them. They apply both localy and over WAN. There is no way to seperate out these permissions, since they apply to the entirety of the shared folder, be it via afp, smb ftp etc. You can make a shared folder just for ftp and restrict that, but then you would have to treat it is a seperate root directory.
