Title: Windows will see hard drive
Post by: gmerlino on December 16, 2015, 03:36:44 PM
I have an old LS-500GL that I can no longer see on my network.  Reset to factor default (retaining the data), and still no luck.  Since it's so old I decided to pull the drive, connect it to my PC via SCSI/USB converter and simply copy the date (so I thought).

Device manager can see the drive but Windows does not.  How is the data written?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Gina

The file format is XFS which is not natively supported by Windows.

If you value your data then contact a data recovery company and ensure you keep a backup next time.

You could try DiskInternals Linux Reader for Windows. It's free and operates in read-only mode, so you can't overwrite the drive. I've used in before to get stuff off an XFS formatted drive.
