Hiya!
My so-far-well-served TS Pro II (2 TB version) strangely quit working last night. In the middle of a video playback, it somehow started to claim that i haven't got access to the share. Stupid of me i went and shut down the box, only to find out it won't boot anymore. Alternates between "System Now Booting.." and "Error Can't load kernel".
The box boots into EM mode, but won't accept tftp booting for some reason. Also the TSUpdater software doesn't find the box in the network, neither does NAS Navigator.
If anyone has any great ideas, i'm all ears.
The box is currently running on RAID0 (due to stupidity of the local dealer which makes raid5 pointless as they just give you a brand spanking new box as replacement).
Firmware version is either 1.24 or 1.27, i can't recall which.
If more info is required, do ask :)
Thanks

oh never mind.. managed to mostly fix it.. Needed booting to EM mode and getting IP from my DHCP, instead of using the default 192.168.11.150 IP.
Now i only still need to figure out how to repair the password file...
If you had changed the administrators password it's possible the unit defaulted back to simply use the word password when the error first cropped up.
To clear the kernal issue so you can boot the NAS normally you most likely will need to force a firmware update onto the drive, the procedure for doing so is detailed here http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&thread.id=9309
Well, I know for a fact that the problem is /etc/shadow corruption. I can access the box via SMB just fine as it seems to be using it's own pw database.. So i figure i need to delete user config for the installer to replace /etc/shadow?
