Hi.
I have an LS-V2.0TL. It worked well for a year before the hard drive died. I was out of the country so I couldn't do any thing about the warranty. The warrant has well expired and has been voided by me opening the case.
Now, I have purchased a new replacement drive. From what I can tell, I need to:
1) boot to EM mode
2) in EM mode, use TFTP (of LSUpdater) to write the OS partitions
3) reboot and setup the rest of the Buffalo settings as normal
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the LS-V2.0TL into EM mode which it appears is required for TFTP to find it.
With the new hard drive attached, I get 6 red blinking lights. With no hard drive attached I get 7 red blinking lights.
Question: what does EM mode "look like" for the LS-V2.0TL?
Question: is there a way to trigger EM mode?
Question: is EM mode required for TFTP?
Question: can TFTP be used when LS-V2.0TL is red blinking 6 or 7 times?
At the moment, my only option to format the drive is using TFTP or LSUpdater, neither of which find the LS-V2.0TL:
- firewalls down
- anti-virus disabled
- tried cross over cable
- tried isolated, hardwired to router
- tried normal, hardwired and daily use router
Note: I assume that EM mode is required AND will be detected by TFTP or LSUPdater.
Additional notes:
fan works, NIC led flickers so probably works, function and status leds work, power led works. I find no reason to believe the board is damaged other than no EM mode access a the moment.
Thank you in advance for any assistance for my questions above and situation in general.
Regards,
Mike
Hi.
After I set the IP address correctly while using the cross over cable, I was able to get access to the LS-V2.0TL. Several runs through the TFTP and LSUpdater and I am back in business.
It would be so much nicer to have all the resources for every Buffalo product in one place including official, service and (warranty voiding) experimental resources.
Searching 5+ sites, sorting out out-of-date server and forum references and resource links, for general knowledge and specialty knowledge, product update, reflash images and updaters is a bit too much.
Regards,
Mike
