Title: Windows 7 Connection Problems
Post by: jfk00ca on October 01, 2015, 10:41:09 AM
We are a small company that has used Linkstation drives for many years. With a mix of Windows & Linux workstations it has been a nice solution.

In the past month we started having problems connecting to the network with some Windows computers. We do not know what change is causing problems: The two most likely culprits are either a Windows or Avast! antivirus update.

The issues:
1) Windows 7 computers cannot see our main Linkstation drive (Mars) on the network list. However, they can see and access mapped folders on Mars.
2) The Linkstation drives they can see are not shown as computers, but as Media Devices and they cannot be accessed except through a web browser.

This is seriously impacting our business, so I would appreciate help understanding what needs to change to fix this asap.

Thank you!

Julie

This procedure can sometimes correct this:

http://buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads/faqs/unable-to-map-a-share-by-hostname-in-windows (http://buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads/faqs/unable-to-map-a-share-by-hostname-in-windows)

If it doesn't you can have your users connect via NAS Navigator.
