Title: Drive does not show up on network/as a shared drive
Post by: areiser on June 06, 2009, 09:41:16 PM

I am on a Mac with the latest os

I have a DriveStation Flexnet

It is plugged in via ethernet to the wireless router

If plugged in via USB it will mount and function properly

Any ideas?

Thanks,

areiser

Do you know the IP of the drivestation?  If not find it in your routers DHCP table.  Then you can connect to it by going to smb://IP.

Ok, I got past the first issue and now it is asking me for a username and password. I made sure the unit was set to factory settings. I tried the default admin/password. No luck.

This seems like a similar problem to this thread, which was not resolved...

The Flexnet shouldnt have a default username and password.  That problem is only with that particular unit as far as I know.

When is it giving you the prompt for username/password? If it's after you do Connect to server, smb://ip_address, then you can choose guest for the username and leave the password blank

Ok, so I found a thread about re-formatting to FAT. I used Apple Disk Utility to do this. I can now connect to the drive, however. It only shows up under the IP address name and provides a share folder. Everything seems to be locked down. I am not able to change the server name, or create new directories. I am signed in as the admin.

Thoughts?
