Title: New disks
Post by: cjm51213 on August 17, 2015, 04:15:34 PM
Hi Folks,

I have a LS-WX4.0TL/R1. In fact I have three of them. I put 3TB disks in one of them some time ago and they both have been working fine. The third one suffered a failure, and I didn't need it so it has been sitting around waiting. Recently I discovered 6TB disks, and I thought I could try to put 12TB in my LinkStation. I installed the disks, and I powered up with the "function" button pressed. I got a blue light fast flash. It remains a blue light fast flash. I can't see it with LSUpdater, but I can see the other two. I have a DHCP server on my net.

So, ...
1) Have I bumped into a disk size limit, meaning are this 6TB disks not going to work? If not, can I partition them into two 3TB partitions and have four 3TB disks on my NAS?
2) Assuming linux has no problem with these disks in the LS-WX, what do I need to do to get this unit back on-line?

Thanks for the help,

Chris.

Hi Folks,

I have successfully done something, meaning the blue light fast flash is now constant.

I followed the TFTP procedure, and I got two reports of blocks transferred. Now, I can see all three NAS devices with the LSUpdater. When I select the new device with the LSUpdater, I see it has an IP address consistent with my subnet, meaning the DHCP server has done his job and the new NAS responds to a ping. Navigator tells me the unit is in "Emergency Mode". So Far, so good.

Even though I have an IP address, I get no response when I try to browse it with Chrome. nmap tells me that all 1,000 ports are closed.

If I push and release the function button, the info/error light comes on as amber briefly then turns red and blinks short, short. long. The Function light mimics the info/error light in blue.

I can't update the firmware. When I select the new NAS with LSUpdater and click the "Update" button, the progress bar scrolls quickly and then reports "No response from ..."

Any thoughts?

Chris.
