Title: Any way to recover a User PW from another Buffalo?
Post by: CloudzGuy on August 15, 2015, 01:41:22 PM
Hi all,

The issue I have had with my new 4 TB LS220 appears to be the user name PW that does not match what my workstation uses.

My other 2 Buffalo units are fine and I can run BUs writing to those drives.  The older Buffalo Terra Station is now quite old and the new LS220 has been added to replaced it.

I do not recall my main Win7 user PW (and appears other than a reset) no way to recover that.  I set this up for Auto-lion when I set up the new WS 3 years back.

The UN PW is on the 2 older Buffalo NAS and I can write to those with the BU software using the same UN/PW.

If I can clone or recover the UN PW from the other units I can update the new LS220 so it will work.
Any help appreciated before the new unit becomes a boat anchor.

Found a buried DOC file that had my PW  recorded so that issue has been solved.

The key issue is not the LinkStation but the @#&@& Acronis BU software the has failed miserably to recognize the new drive.
After > 10 years of using Acronis I have moved to NovaBackup that does and is working with the new NAS.
