Title: Linkstation LS-WX2.0TL/R1 (LS-WXL25B) - getting image on 2 new drives
Post by: karenann on August 14, 2015, 05:40:59 PM
Buffalo Linkstation LS-WX2.0TL/R1 (LS-WXL25B)
Unit was previously bricked. To get it back up I removed drive2, did firmware update (LSUpdater.exe) to 1.71.
I tested hard drive2 using Crystal Disk Info 6.5.2, it gave me a warning on drive 2.

Objective:  to setup RAID1, I am not concerned about the data, I want to get the unit back into use with RAID1 and no errors.

Current status with original drives
Two hard drives - Toshiba DT01ACA100 931.5GB
Drives are shown as unformatted.
Drive 1 is healthy, Drive 2 has a bad boot sector.
Power light is solid blue, 3rd light flashes red 1,2 then 12
I go to the linkstation from the browser; Menu System, then Storage, then RAID array
Select RAID Array - RAID1 for disk1 and disk2, then press button "Create RAID Array" it fails at 20% consistently.

Preferred solution
I have two identical 2TB drives, Seagate ST2000DL003, I want to setup the Linkstation to use these 2 new drives.
This (these) drives are in the supported drives list for this linkstation.
I need to get the boot image onto a new drive1
Then insert new drive2, and do the RAID.

Here's what I tried:
I obtained TFTP Boot Recovery LS-WXL 1.33.exe which I think is correct for the: LS-WXL25B
I insert new ST2000 drive, one partition, formatted NTFS. Power up.
I get 3rd light flashing red 6 times and repeats.
I power on with function button depressed, i get blue flashing
I wait a minute or so no difference
NAS Navigator (version 2.82) does not see the linkstation
I launch TFTP Boot.exe and this is what I get

Preparing to write TFTP configuration settings.
TFTP configuration settings have been written.
