Title: Replaced Failing HDD and now the system has forgotten who it is and is EM208
Post by: EdwinF on August 11, 2015, 11:18:27 AM
Very confused, originally the system a TS-HO(2)-OTGL/RG reported that I had bad sectors on drive 3.  We tried replacing the Samsung 500 GB drive with a like sized WD and it wouldn't use it.  So we had a spare server(same model and structure) that was unused at the moment, stood it down.  Took it's drive three a Samsung 500 GB and placed that in the system.  When the system was booted it came up saying it was the other server.  So we shut down the server removed the drive and waited for the new drive to arrive.  We placed the new drive in and turned it on.  It went the it's self checks and booted up.  Then announced it was TS-H-TGL-EM208 and said the raid array not defined running in emergency mode.

I have tried to remote into the server but it will not see the IP address it has been given.  Buffalo NAS Navigator see the server and it.

Help!! Any ideas or thought how to fix this?

It's in Emergency Mode, reinstall the firmware.

That's a wonderful idea but the unit will not allow me access to update the firmware.  Next idea?

Interesting as it finished writing the firmware 1.33 it couldn't confirm the update was complete and the server was no longer listed on the NAS (2.82) so I check the server and HDD 3 had failed ( that's the new HDD I replaced).   So I shut it down and rebooted the server.  It then came up with and error reading the ROM.  So I have rebooted again, there server is not showing up on the Navigator.  So what is next?

Finally got the Server back up again in emergency mode.  Attempted to update firmware again.  Received error message "TS-HTGL-EM208 Returns an Error. (ACP_State_Failure) Updating is Aborted.  What the heck do this mean and what do I do next?

It also HDD 3 was bad so I changed the drive out with a new 500 GB drive same specs.  The system no boot is EM mode but an IP address we never assigned and navigator can see it but when I try to update the firmware it says the unit is unresponsive and stuff about firewalls which it is inside of.  It also now claims HDD 1 has bad sectors. Besides tossing away the box and starting new there has got to be something we can do.  Thank god the box was mirrored and backed up.

Got it to change ip address though the Navigator said it failed.  Tried updating again and it said the drives needed to be formatted.  So I let it, as it finished it tells me Failed to Formatting. (0xFFFFFFE) Updating is aborted.  Began shut down procedures,  system is F/W updating and HDD is error many bad sectors.  WTF????

Now I have a server in TFTP Mode E06, LOST BOOT IMAGE.   I have an IP but Navigator won't see the box.  Now what?  Please some help here?
