I can confirm firmware v1.81 improves on USB drive recognition.

However, I still have problem on not waking up after sleep. To be honest, I'm not sure if it is at sleep mode since I do not enable any timer at all. The symptom is that the NAS does not response after 1 or 2 days in operation. I have to remove the power plug & plug in again! Simply switch the power switch does not work!

Ok thanks, so this update does not fix this problem, it's a pitty...some people have reported the problem to the support and they don't take care of it...
So I will not update and keep the firmware 1.34.

I had the same problem. After reverting back to 1.34 no hanging.

Buffalo support ask me to update again to this firmware and send them the log file after a crash.
But as my device is running ok with the firmware 1.34 I'm a bit affraid to do it.

Hi, I have not been able to update the FW - how did you do it?  I actually would like to update to 1.34 since 1.81 appears to have some problems, but the update does not work with any FW version.  I download the FW from Buffalo web and it runs like it is working, but in the end I get a "cannot connect on TCP" error message.  And when using the web access to update, it also appears to go through all 6 steps, but in the end no change.  Am I supposed to reformat my drives in order to update FW?
