Title: Hi i am trying to transfer a file over to my buffalo Drivestation 500gb external hard drive

   I keep getting this error message-"The file is too large for the destination file system"   How do i sort out the partitions? i run Vista. Thanks. DAN

Find out what the device is formatted for.  If it is in FAT32 the reason it is not transferring is because FAT32 can only accept up to 2gb.  If this is the case you will have to reformatt the device into NTFS.  ****WARNING**** a reformat of the device will delete all data on the device.

 

You can find the file format in disk management of Windows.
