Title: I think accidentally I bricked my linkstation live
Post by: Obe on June 06, 2015, 04:43:42 AM
Hello everybody,

Past week I had some problems with connecting with my linkstation and if I could see the drive and "connect" with it it stopped connecting and prompted me a message saying it could not connect. This problem occurred on several devices. After trying to reconnect the NAS with my router, restarting router and turning NAS on and off, it still wouldn't work properly.

So yesterday I decided to search in the web UI, that somehow was accessible. I tried updating the firmware, but it already was up-to-date. After that I found a check disk option (Dutch: schijf controleren) and started it because it made sense. We have had several power outages the past week and something could have gone wrong with the disk. However after a couple minutes it suddenly said it was formatting my drive. Well poop. I panicked and rushed to my NAS and shut it down. Just turned it off.

Judging now I think it wasn't my best option but I couldn't think of something better and I didn't want to lose all my / my moms data. I just turned it on again to look at the aftermath. Now it didn't work at all, it wasn't showing up on the network and the web UI wasn't accessible. I think I bricked it.

Does anyone know how I would be able to fix this or save the data from the disk?
Thanks in advance.
