Title: connecting two LS-VL-Linkstation pro.
Post by: rango on May 28, 2015, 03:57:23 PM
Hello

I have the model LS-VL Linkstation pro.

If I buy another LS-VL Linkstation pro (so I will have 2 Nas) can I just simply join the existing nas with the new one ?
Option A) 1 network cable from my router to old Nas and 1 network cable from the router to the new nas
Option B) 1 network cable from my router to a switch and from the switch  feed network cables to the 2 nas

am I correct in thinking the above.
If Yes, can I buy another buffalo variant ..or do I need to stick to the same  NAS type(i.e LS-VL Linkstation pro) ?

any other better options here ?

TIA

Hi Rango,

If you just want to have additional HDD space, just buy what you want.
And it shouldn't make a difference if you connect the 2nd NAS to the Router or to a Switch. (Theoretically the Router contains a Modem and a Switch.)

If the 2 NAS should be combined to 1 RAID Array : not sure if this would work - somehow - at least it would become from my point of view very complicated.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Bernd
