Title: Copy whole USB HDD
Post by: andre on June 03, 2009, 01:06:09 PM

Just got myself a Linkstation Pro Duo II (FW 3.09, RAID 1, 2TB)... But how in gods name can I copy an external HDD to my Linkstation without using a computer connected via network? I do need to copy 1TB of data from an external HDD and my network speed is pretty much limited.

The Backup function only allows to copy from the station onto the external HDD and not vise versa.Sure, I could take the drives out, but right now I dont have the possibility.

Ideas anyone?

Thanks in Advance,

Andre

Map the drive and plug the usb into your PC and move the files that way.

Thanks for your reply, JoshC!

What do you mean by mapping and plugging? Can't I use shell/telnet access to copy directly from the USB-HDD onto the Linkstation?

ExtHDD->USB->Computer<-USB<-Linkstation

OR use the traditional way of

ExtHDD->USB->Computer->Network->Linkstation

Cheers,

André
