Title: Terastation raid 1 drive replacement procedure
Post by: sparky4460 on April 27, 2015, 03:34:48 PM
I am having problems after removing a drive from my Terastation TS-WVHL NAS.  I have all the data backed up fortunately.  I shut down the NAS and removed drive 1 from the NAS and restarted.  I wanted to prove out the recovery procedure of the NAS.  After a short while the NAS came up on a single drive and all looked good.  So then I decided to put drive 1 back in.  I initiated a shut down on the Terastation about 4 hours ago.  It is still staying it is shutting down.  The LAN links are off.  I am afraid to force a shutdown assuming it is rebuilding something.  Is this normal?   It is a 2 TB X 2 Raid 1 Terastation.  When I put drive 1 back in is it going to have to rebuild the raid image?

just pull the plug, reinsert the disk 1 and rebuild the raid

I am back up and running but in degraded mode.  Error I12.  Under Storage Raid Array the Array has and error and if I click on the array the option to rebuild array is grayed out.  Only option is to delete the array.  Is it attempting to repair itself or do I need to delete the array and then rebuild the array?

This is why I wanted to simulate a failure.  If I were relying on this raid array and it failed I could be in serious trouble.

Here is the last syslog:

System - Storage - Disks - Select the disk -> Rediscover Disk -> Then the rebuild option should be available.

Rediscover disk is also grayed out.  See attached imaged.

Maybe I won't .  How do I send an attachment?

My TeraStation seems to be completely hosed now.  All because I removed a drive and put it back in.  I can't do anything with it.  The web access will not let me do anything.  It just says it is processing an array procedure.  Is there are way to do a hard reset to factory defaults not using the web interface or software?
