Title: TeraStation Pro TS-RHGL/R5 NAS RAID 4TB - Reset
Post by: bigjohnuk44 on April 16, 2015, 02:45:28 AM
Hi

I have got a TeraStation Pro TS-RHGL/R5 NAS RAID 4TB. I need to reset the unit and start again. The unit is showing an error of TFTP MODE : E06 lost boot image.

I have found the reset button behind the cover, however when I press this for 10 seconds the unit does not reset.

How can I please reset this unit?

Kind regards

John

OH.

Moving on now. I was able to use the TFTP with correct boot image. The utility shows the correct two lines However the Tera does not show on the Nav. I tried booting with EM and without EM. I have tried using Windows Safe mode also. Still does not see the TeraStation.

Any ideas as to how I can reset this unit and have a solid firmware installed.

One other thing to add.

When the RHGL boots up it will sound an alarm, due to the errors. When line two of the TFTP is sent the alarm stops, which must mean that it does try to run the script. However we do not know if it has worked our not.

Do we know if the image is good ?

I am still unable to ping to 192.168.11.150 also .

Using the .buffalo files from the update software, I managed to get the unit to be seen now in the Nav. However it will not take a firmware update. The unit now says it is in an Emergency mode.

Any ideas how I may for an update?

Hi All,

Cracked it! I have been successful in reinstalling firmware with a last image. Tips for the others.

1. I did follow the FAQ (3 of 5) TFTP boot procedure. However in order to find the files to load I did download the boat image from the link in the item, however this image did not work. So what I did was change the files ulmage.buffalo and initrd.buffalo for the files that you will find in the firmware set of files. These files download from the Buffalo support site as the Firmware Upgrade pack.

2. I ran TFTP Boot.exe with the ulmage.buffalo and initrd.buffalo files from the firmware set of files as above. This then cancelled the alarm and got the unit to boot. The unit then was seen by the Navigation program and I was able to ping 192.168.11.150.

3. However I saw that I had a faulty drive, number 4. The Firmware software update would not work as the unit had a faulty drive. So in order that your firmware software update will work you will need to ensure all drives are good and none are faulty.

4. I fixed the faulty drive. You can try a format via the PC, however with mine I had to buy a new drive. Once all drives working I was able to run the firmware software update with no issues. TIP however is to close the TFTP boot.exe program before you run the firmware update program.

5. Once the firmware program was successful I then ran the Buffalo setup software for this unit. Again you can download this software from the Buffalo support site. This software then let me RAID 5 the drives.

6. Once completed all good. I just waiting for the unit to check the RAID.

Thank you for the help of others on the forum and one tip from buffalo support.

Hope the above helps someone.
