Title: Replacing HDD LS-WV6.0TL/R1, cross compatibility HDD
Post by: abautista on March 24, 2015, 11:08:52 AM
Hello everyone

I need your help/advice, because an issue was detected by the Linsktation itself (model LS-WV6.0TL/R1) and sends me the following email:

Subject: LinkStation Status Report:DISK Error Notification:Error:Read error
DISK Error Notification

HDD error occurred
Disk(s) the error occurred:"Disk 1"

(sda) READ sector:3648829288 count:6
Disk writing error
Continuous backup is recommended.

I was reading some forums and they recommend us to replace the hard drive as they were told by Buffalo.

I have the manual (and intuition) to replace the drives: http://manual.buffalo.jp/buf-doc/35011501-05_EN.pdf
I also have the compatibility list: http://www.buffalotech.com/content/files/products/LS-WVLE_Compatibility_List1.pdf

Now, my question (where I need your advise and knowledge) is: Do I have to use the same HDD model and firmware as the other HDD in the raid (ST3000DM001)? I ask you this because I do not trust Seagate as much as Western Digital and I want to buy WD30EFRX (http://www.amazon.com/Red-3TB-NAS-Hard-Drive/dp/B008JJLW4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427209406&sr=8-1&keywords=western+digital+WD30EFRX)

Best Regards,
Aner
