Title: LS-WXL stuck on I15
Post by: aeciolemos on March 17, 2015, 08:06:47 AM
Hi everyone, it is nice to join this forum. I am new to NAS technology, but I have used Buffalo storage for years now, at home. Recently I started to try to understand the little black box.

I have two of these LS-WXL devices (LS-WX1.0TL/R1) I got a few years ago (so not under warranty I guess) and they work great. Recently, as of Sunday, one of them after some hours turned on stops showing up in NAS Navigator2. The light is blinking amber (I) and 1-5 which according to the manual means that it has found an error in the RAID and is checking for errors. However, it has been that way for over two days. I dont know if I should turn it off and back on or wait for it to finish.

For more info, I have two 3TB drives in that one in RAID 1 (mirroring). It is about 80% full. I dont know what other info you might need, so please ask and excuse me being new to this.

Thank you

Anyone? Can I just pull the plug and reset it? It does not respond to shutdown and does not show up in NAS Navigator2.

Thanks

Well, since nobody replied, I unplugged, waited a bit and then turned it on again. The error has gone away. It is a LS-WXL/R1 series (now I can see it in the NAS Naviagor 2. More details:

Firmware version: 1.69 (DTCP-IP:1.65-20130731)
Two harddrives: ST3000DM001-9YN1 and ST3000DM001-1ER1
Storage: RAID Array 1: 2405.0 GB / 2778.5 GB (86.6 %)
RAID Mode: 1

I am waiting to see if it happens again.

Can nobody help me? Doesn't buffalo support monitor the forums? No replies? Really?

It has happened again. Apparently when it does the weekly raid scan, it stops responding and starts flashing the I5 code. The only way for it to come back is to restart it by unplugging it. It doesn't even reply to the shutdown command via button in the back.

I guess this is faulty firmware or hardware because this does not happen on my other NAS, of a different series. I had another Buffalo NAS crap out on me destroying the data on the secondary drive several times before I gave up and trashed it. I also got tired waiting for support.

I will try alternative firmware that might work better and start looking for another brand of NAS to replace these.

this is the meaning of E07: error Hard drives may be not connected or may be damaged. Try reconnecting them after shutting down hard drives.

To be honest if no one replied to your post I would of contact phone support. That why you will get your answer, now for the error, I believe under the hdd tab for the raid part, there is a option to not let Linkstation turn off on errors for raid scan, This is what is happening, I would setup email notification as well. You might actually are having a hdd issue or maybe the raid array is having issues. Can't say 100% as there is no information I can look at to review.

Hi Joma90. Sorry for the late reply. I ended up doing exactly what you said before calling Tech Support. It ended up being a hardrrive issue and I replaced the drive and all is well since then. I do get RAID scan notificantions since I set it up and sometimes they take a long time to complete (over 24h) but then they complete successfully and the NAS does not turn off anymore.

Sorry I never replied to this thread, but life got in the way.

Thank you for your help.
