Title: Firmware upgrade
Post by: deanwilkes on March 15, 2015, 10:03:26 AM
My LS421DE is stuck doing a firmware upgrade. Stopped on step 2/6. Not locked up the wheel is spinning just wont go past that point.
Tried shutting down and restarting the box but it goes back to the same place. HAve two and the first one updated fine.

Durdles - I read your web post about updating the firmware on a Buffalo NAS.  I wanted to clarify your 3rd step.

QuoteDisable your firewall...

    Disable your anti-virus software ....

Investigate how your PC and NAS are connected. They MUST be in the same hub or switch.

In my case the PC was connected to my internet router, after doing items 1 and 2 above, the little cog was still turning on Step 2/6, I disconnected the CAT5 network lead from my router an plugged in to the same hub that the LS220D NAS unit was attached to – BINGO!

So, your PC was connected to your internet router with the CAT5? And you disconnected it from the router and plugged it into a hub your NAS was also connected to?   Doesn't it seem like it would be the same effect if I have my PC connect to the router with a cable, and my NAS is also connected to the router with a cable?  For me, I stay on Step 2/6 for a long time, but it does move to Step 6 and then no change.  Process finishes quickly and I didn't see any messages, but firmware update did not work.
