Title: LS220D hidden shares
Post by: ss1020 on February 22, 2015, 04:42:29 PM
Just installed a new LS220D with the intent of creating a hidden folder.  Followed the directions and had no issues. However, if you open "Network" (I am on a Win7 machine) and browse to the Link Station, there is the hidden folder in plain view. Am I missing something here???

I just tried the same thing on an LS220 I have running here in the office and I can't see the share from a Server 2008 machine or a Windows 7 machine.

I set the following attributes on the share:

Read/Write
Recycle Bin disabled
Access restrictions disabled
SMB only
Hidden share

I'm running FW version 1.62 on the unit here.

What attributes did you set? What FW version is running on the unit?

I am running 1.62-0.04
I dont have any problem creating or seeing my share, that IS the problem. If I create a "Hidden Share", I shouldn't be able to browse the Network from a Win& device and see that Hidden Share without entering some type of credentials.

As I said, I have an LS220 here in the office and when I create a hidden share I cannot see it from a Windows 7 PC. I'm uncertain why this is not working correctly in your environment.

What other attributes/services are turned on for that share?
