Title: iPhone Music Streaming App Recommendation?
Post by: AirKilroy on June 01, 2009, 11:20:47 AM
Does anyone know of an iPhone app that will let me stream the music on my LinkStation XHL to my iPhone over 3G?  I do NOT want to keep my computer on to do it.  Just directly from NAS to iPhone.  I see PlugPlayer mentioned, but the reviews aren't great and I don't want to spend $5 on an app for nothing.

PlugPlayer is for UPnP and the Buffalo system is DNLA.  So I don't think it will work for that.  But then again my Buffalo system has Twonky built-in to it.  And that PlugPlayer website http://plugplayer.com/support.html says that it works with Twonky. Let me know if you find anything.

Their support page also lists the LinkStation Quad as supported.  Has anyone tried it with the CHL or the XHL?

I have a Linkstation live. The only way I can get video to IPHONE is if it is encoded in MP4. Iphone won't recognize or accept any other format to my knowledge.

MP4 works flawlessly.

Has anybody found an iphone app to stream music over the air (edge/3g) using linkstation live as server? I can use plugplayer but only on a local network using wifi. Or is plugplayer possible to connect to my home network via edge/3g?

When I access video from my iphone it stops.  Is there any buffer settings any place. Is it the video itself that needs to be created for streaming?
